STARBUCK
STARBROOK
NEWTON
Polding shows its slight presence in Yorks, Lancs,
and Essex - It has also proved to be a variant of
the Powling name in the counties on the left

The Powling variant in my family
shows up to be mostly in London and
Middlesex, Essex and Suffolk,
The Polding group
who are in the
Lancashire region
are descendents of
a Dutch Roman
Catholic and there
is a strong
religious basis to
these families

Whether the
Yorkshire
Poldings are
related to them I
do not know but I
believe it could
well be so

My Shelton family are in
Gloucestershire which shows as a dark
green, however the concentration here is
in Yorkshire, Nottinghamshire and
London and Middlesex with a spread
from there into neighbouring counties
The Starbuck name just tips into being
numbered in the Midlands, Cornwall
and grouped in Sussex, Kent and
London and Middlesex.
Starbrook people seem to hardly show
up anywhere with them only being
noticed in London and Middlesex and
Derbyshire - a very small variant but
they are still around today.
A many coloured map for a
numerous name the highest
concentrations seem to be along
the coastal counties with the
main concentration in
Yorkshire, Sussex, London and
Middlesex and counties
bordering Yorkshire
No specific concentration of this name
but spread around the country in patches
here and there, the possibility of many
variant spellings may be giving this a
false perception.
This gives the impression that Welborn
was nearer the original name and it
acquired the different spelling only when it
travelled away from the Yorkshire area
The colour coding on the maps will show where a name has possibly started
from due to concentration in any particular county, and where it has spread.

As can be seen it is a
fairly rare name and one
on which I have a one
name study -
99% in the U.K. and in
Australia are related to
each other and all those
from the Belvoir Vale
valley on the Lincs, Leics
and Notts border.

The Shilton variant has a less
obvious presence in the country
showing only in a few counties
where Shelton is also shown

RESEARCHED
There are quite a lot of variants with this name but have only done the
most obvious one here and from this it seems to be a south east name
