The DNA Route
seeking to find out who May was -
and from whence she came
My husbands DNA swab was duly sent off to the laboratory and
I sat back to await the results which came in qucker than I had
expected. I had the 37 marker and the mtdna plus test so as to
get his mothers mtdna which is handed down to both genders
of a mothers children but whereas a daughter will in turn hand
her mothers mt.dna on to her children and so on down the
generations - a son does not hand his mtdna to his children, it
stops with him.

The two tests for the mtdna are named as being -

HVRI and HVR2 - these can be done separately or at the
same time. The Haplogroup can be predicted from these
results and are mostly accurate predictions, the Haplogroup
depicts our deep ancestry showing the various routes mankind
made, spreading out around the world over a massive time
span. There is a further test available which can be done to
ascertain the prediction is indeed correct. If there is no
haplogroup match with someone then that someone is not
genetically connected and can be discounted.

The Results
of the May Walker nee Allen mtdna test
carried out by courtesy of her son -

Should anyone viewing these test results realise there is an
exact match with their own results please ignore the fact
that the surname Allen does not mean anything to you as
May Allen should be thought of as having
nothing 'writ in stone ' about her -
she is a complete mystery !

LOOKING FOR MATCHES

I would like to exchange information with anyone with the same
HVR2 mutations written here and especially if they know there is a
connection between their family and England and / or Scotland.
Although anyone who has 'lost' a female from their family tree I
would be happy to hear from - just in case she is ours.
